A brush fire near Pine Valley has burned about 75 to 100 acres and is 5 percent contained, reports ABC 10 News.
The fire, dubbed the “Gun Fire,” began at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday south of Interstate 8 on Old Highway 80 near the Glencliff Fire Station and the gun club.
At one point, the fire threatened several buildings at the gun club. None were lost and no structures are threatened at this time. Evacuations for hikers in the Cibbetts Flat and Kitchen Creek areas of the Cleveland National Forest were lifted as of about 5 p.m.
Customers on Mount Laguna are currently without power after San Diego Gas & Electric shut off power lines for the safety of firefighters.
Three strike teams, four hand crews, four air tankers and four helicopters with the Cleveland National Forest are currently fighting the fire. Cal Fire is assisting with 10 engines, four crews, two bulldozers, three airplanes and one helicopter.
