The Santa Rosa (CA) Fire Department operates five FERRARA pumpers and one rescue truck. According to Battalion Chief Andy Pforisch, the pumpers are designed for all-risk response and general firefighting. They each have a short wheelbase and overall height and length for maneuverability in traffic and on narrow streets. The L-shaped water tank provides a 66-inch hosebed height, which allows preconnects to be pulled from the ground. Sonoma County purchased the rescue truck, which responds out of Santa Rosa, the county’s US&R provider. The unit responds primarily as a rescue to all of Sonoma County, including Santa Rosa.
