More than 700 firefighters have been assigned to contain and control the Two Bulls wildfire, reports The Oregonian.
Infrared-equipped airplanes flew over the fire overnight into Monday morning and found that the fire had grown to 6,800 acres.
As of Monday morning, the fire was just 5 percent contained, but crews worked through the night to shore up both bulldozer lines and hand lines on the fire’s western and southern flanks, said Tina O’Donnell, a spokeswoman for the Oregon Department of Forestry.
The fire — which began as two fires that then grew together — exploded from 300 acres Saturday afternoon to more than 6,200 acres Sunday and then another 600 acres overnight.
