National Fire Prevention Week is October 4 – 10, 2015 and the Lyndhurst, NJ Fire Department has hosted more than 2,000 schoolchildren this week to teach them about fire safety and to introduce them to some of Lyndhurst’s bravest.
The 2015 theme of National Fire Prevention Week is “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep. Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm!” The Fire Department brought numerous classes of local school children from Pre-K through 3rdgrade to the firehouse. The kids were shown a presentation about fire safety and the importance of working smoke detectors in every bedroom on the projector screen. They were then brought to the smoke-house, where they got to experience a fire simulator that the department uses for training and some students even got to see their teachers be lifted up in the firetrucks more than 100” off the ground.
“The new technology provided to us by Brian Gluck has enabled us be much more efficient in a more professional manner,” said Paul Haggerty, Chief of the Lyndhurst Fire Department. “This projection system allows us to utilize our facilities as a training center for all South Bergen Fire Departments so that we don’t have to travel all the way to Mahwah to the Bergen Fire Academy.”
“Having started our company in Lyndhurst, we wanted to give back to the community and the people that protect the community,” stated Brian Gluck. “We are proud to have helped the Lyndhurst FD through our “Save our Screen” initiative, where we donate our products and services to those whose job it is to “save us”. We encourage any other fire departments in need to reach out to us as well!”
