Onefirefightersuffered a minor injury when companies responded last week to this working building fire in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The report was called in to 911 by an off-duty Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) firefighter, with the first unit arriving on scene in two minutes. The fire occurred Sunday, April 26, at A Better Used Tire Inc. IFD crews found heavy smoke on arrival and initiated an offensive attack using four handlines, two supply lines, and aerial operations.
There were no working smoke detectors at the building, which was a one-story structure of ordinary construction, about 30 x 60. One firefighter suffered burns to the ears.
The fire was marked under control in 25 minutes. Damage was estimated at $75,000.
