Daughter of Fallen Chicago Firefighter Calls for Tougher Penalties Against Building Owners

The daughter of a fallen Chicagofirefighteris calling for tougher penalties against landlords of abandoned buildings, according to a news report.

Jennifer Stringer–whose father,Ed, and another firefighter, Corey Ankum, died in a December 2010 incident–was reacting to the death ofChicago Firefighter Daniel Capuano, who died Monday when he fell two stories in an elevator shaft left empty by unauthorized work.

Stringer toldWBBMthat says the anger at that time should have resulted in stiffer civil penalties and criminal sanctions against landlords who abandon buildings in such situations.
