One person has reportedly died and two are critically injured after smoke poured into one of Washington, D.C.’s busiest metro stations, creating what authorities described as a “mass casualty” incident, reports The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/14RkFww)
Sixty-eight people were taken to area hospitals for injuries, two of which were described as critical, after a disabled train became trapped inside of L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station around 3 p.m.,NBC Washington reported.
The source of the smoke has yet to be determined, according to the city’s Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. They say they’re working to activate the tunnel fans to ventilate the area located just blocks from the U.S. Capitol.
