This week, 120 firefighters with Ocala (FL) Fire Rescue received specializedtrainingto combat aircraft fires. The trainingprops–which include a mock airplane featuringlive fireand manikins to simulate passenger rescue–are supplied by Kellogg Community College, which is located in Michigan.
Planning for ARFF and Mutual Aid
The annual training offered to local firefighters consist of classroom instruction and hands on activities. In addition this year, 17 firefighters from the Leesburg Fire Department traveled to the Ocala International Airport to participate in the training.
“This is an excellent opportunity for our firefighters to practice extinguishing brake fires, engine, and cabin fires inside aircraft,” states Ocala Fire Chief Bradd Clark.
