IL Fire Department Again Achieves Accreditation

The Naperville (IL) Fire Department was accredited for a fourth time by theCommission on Fire Accreditation Internationaland theCenter for Public Safety Excellence.

TheNaperville Sun(http://bit.ly/TWXKpn) reported that the Center for Public Safety Excellence’s board of directors has designated the department a “Legacy Agency,” for being one of only three fire departments in the world to be accredited for 15 consecutive years, or since 1997.

Prior to 1997, the department volunteered to be a “beta test site.” This aided the commission in developing and building internationally accepted benchmarks and performance indicators for fire and emergency service delivery, the release stated.

The accreditation status is valid for five years and includes submittal of annual compliance measures and updates to current acceptable benchmarks.
