A man was struck and killed by a fire apparatus in Columbia, South Carolina. Michael Mayo, 49, reportedly ran into the road after a store clerk called the police on him, according toa news report.
Mayo and an unidentified friend were hit by a hazmat truck that responding with lights and sirens to an emergency call. Mayo was killed while the other person was transported, treated, and released.
