Long Beach firefighters carried a 100-pound tortoise to safety from a house fire,reports Press Telegram.
The tortoise was not directly threatened by flames, but he was close enough that a battalion chief at the scene decided he should be moved to a safer spot.
Several firefighters picked up the tortoise and carried him away, setting him down on the sidewalk. That’s when his owner asked them for a photo, and the firefighters lined up in the driveway to pose with their new reptilian friend.
