Winners in Fire Waste Contest
The city of Memphis, Tenn., again won the Grand Award in the National Inter-Chamber Fire Waste Contest. The winners were announced March 31 at Washington, D. C. Competing with approximately 300 cities with a population of more than thirty million. Memphis had the best record among all in fire prevention accomplishments.
The contest, which is sponsored by the National Fire Waste Council, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of the United States, is an annual competition in which awards are given to cities in seven population classes for the best work done in fire prevention and protection fields. The winners will receive bronze engraved plaques at the annual meeting of the National Chamber, to he held in Washington the first week in May. The winners are:
