Why Horace Went West!
We suspect the reason Horace Greeley counselled young men to “go west and grow up with the country,” was that he’d partaken of Pacific Coast hospitality at some firemen’s convention! At any rate, come September, countless hundreds of fire fighters are going to follow Horace’s injunction and make the trek to Los Angeles for the 85th annual conference of the International Association of Fire Chiefs.
Knowing how these Pacific Coast Lads, the Los Angeles City and County Fire Departments in particular, treat visitors, you can anticipate a record-breaking conference, great in attendance, in business and education features, in exhibits of the latest in fire fighting apparatus and equipment— and in entertainment.
