WHAT’S BURNING
THE following list includes fires of $50,000 loss and over in the United States and Canada, for the month of October, 1935. These figures, compiled from the telegraphic reports, are based on estimates made at the time, and are subject to later investigations and consequent revision. Taken as a whole, however, they are an approximately correct view of the losses incurred. I he figures represent loss in thousands of dollars.
Correction: The destruction of the Shelter Rock Country Club by fire which resulted in a loss of $65,000 and reported in the October issue as having occurred at Manhasset, L. I., was not in the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire District.
