WELLS
The following are the lowest bidders for drilling artesian wells on the Indian Reservations in South Dakota: P. F. Kearns, Yankton, S. Dak., $6.50 per foot; Max Grossmayer, Pueblo, Col., $9.95; J. F. McCarthy, Minneapolis, $13.
The Union Electric Company, of Seattle, Wash., now has enough artesian water at its Grant street plant to supply all its boilers and condensers, for it yesterday morning struck water at a depth of 192 feet in the second well, which flows at a rate of 450,000 gallons a day. The flow of the first well is increased to 200,000 gallons by pumping, and although the new one is only fifty feet distant it is not affected.
