At Washington, D. C., the commissioners have given a contract to Wm. C. Miller for sinking several wells at a cost of $5,000.
At Rockville, Md., the artesian well intended to furnish a supply for the town is being sunk very slowly; so much so that the council is considering taking steps to compel the contractors to push the work.
