At Tailholt, Cal., a system has just been completed by which the town is supplied with water. There hits been put in an old trade windmill, with an export addition, which lifts the water sixty feet from a twenty-foot well to a reservoir with a capacity of 5,000 gallons. The well is dug in the hill out of solid granite and is cemented.

Work has been begun on the huge well in Rotterdam, N. Y., which is to furnish Schenectady with water. It is to be fifty by eighty feet at the mouth and seventy-five feet deep.
