Water Works Records
The efficient operation of a water works plant depends to a very great degree on the way in which its various records are kept. This principle applies to works supplying municipalities of all sizes. The records of a small town should be as carefully kept as those of the largest metropolis. In fact, if there is any degree of difference in importance, it might be safely asserted that the necessity for well kept records is more vital in the small places.
One of the divisions of the water works that needs attention in this respect as much as any other is the filtration and purification plant. This is perhaps one of the most neglected branches of the water supply system as far as this matter is concerned, especially in the small cities and towns. Some very valuable hints along this line are presented this week in the article, by Mr. Rowe, who is not only a practical filter operator but also is a man of many ideas, as is evidenced by two articles which he has written for FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING. The suggestions contained in his paper are well worthy of consideration by filter plant operators.
