Water Works Day
The speedy action taken by the American Water Works Association in favorably passing on the plan of the National Water Works Day as suggested by FIRE AND WATER ENGNEERING in the May 16 issue is very gratifying and shows that the water works men were quick to grasp the idea.
The importance of such a day set apart for the consideration of the water supply by the people can hardly be overestimated. Just think what it would mean! Practically the whole country would have its attention centered upon the question of the water supply at the same time. People who never before had even thought of from where and how the water in their houses and shops had been brought to them —further than that all they had to do was to turn a faucet to receive a plentiful supply—would begin to understand and realize the problems involved. A more tolerant spirit and a better understanding between the water works and the consumers would be the inevitable result.
