WATER SUPPLY
—On October 18 the city council of Peoria, III., closed the contract with Moffett, Hodgkins & Clarke of Syracuse, N. Y., the new water company, by which that company takes over the works. An improved system will be put in at once and the city furnished with an abundant supply. The transfer involved a sum of $500,000.
—At a meeting of the water committee of Montreal, on October 29, a report was adopted appropriating $7,590.76 due H. R. Worthington on the new pumping engine. The report was passed by the council subject to the approval of the finance committee.
