Up Goes the Hay
Heat, in newly stored hay, is believed responsible for a fire which destroyed the hay and stock barn on the Green Farm. Slocum. North Kingstown. R. I.
Firemen front North and South Kingstown responded, but could do nothing, as the water supply was about one-half mile away across from a railroad right of way. Fifteen heifers that were being groomed for the coming state fair, were led to safety. Fire consumed fifty tons of hay that were left from last year and 100 tons stored this summer, part the day before the fire.
