Troy’s New Water Commission.

Troy’s New Water Commission.

At a meeting of the Troy (N. Y.) common council Thursday evening, James Fleming and Harry M. Alden were elected water commissioners to fill vacancies in the board caused by the death of Joseph Fales and the resignation of David C. Briggs, who has taken up his residence in Chicago.

James Fleming is a resident of the Eighth ward, and is one of the most esteemed residents of the city. He has represented the Eighth ward in the Board of Aldermen for several terms, and was a member of the police board until he resigned several years ago. He has been prominent in Democratic councils for the past twenty five years, and has been chairman of the Democratic county committee for a number of years. He brings into the water board an experience in public affairs that will make him a very useful member of the board, and his selection was in all respects an excellent one.
