THE venerable double-end steamboat Kill von Kull, for so many years a familiar feature among the ferry fleet of New York harbor, is no more. She was burned at her wharf at Elizabethport the other night. She was a Government transport during the war, but was afterward rebuilt at a cost of $125,000. Peace to her ashes.

IT wasn’t the fault of the car stove that the injured in the shocking railroad accident at St. Georges, Ont., last week, were not roasted alive. It did its best, promptly setting the wrecked cars on fire, and it was only by the prompt and vigorous efforts of the uninjured passengers and train-hands that the flames were quenched with snow and the horror averted.
