A step towards the solution of the water problem at Joliet, Ill., has been taken, Bids have been accepted and contracts awarded for a new pumping engine and the drilling of an artesian well. The style of pumping engine chosen is the Laidlaw-Dunn-Gordon, with airpump attached. The cost will be $8,850. The city will provide all the piping to connect the engine with the mains The cost of the artesian well will be $7,500. It will be 1.500 ft. deep and cased. I he whole work will be completed in three months.
