The St. Louis Pompier Corps.
Much has been written and said regarding the "Pompier Life-Saving Service" which has been introduced in the St. Louis Fire Department, yet it is doubtful if it is properly understood by the Firemen or the public outside of that city. The following letter, written by Mr. Chr. Hoell, who introduced the Service in St. Louis, we find in the Westliche Post of that city, and reproduce as tending to throw more light upon a new branch of the Fire Service, regarding which there is much curiosity expressed:
