A sidelight in the history of motorized fire apparatus
FOAM had already made its entrance into the fire fighting field when motorized apparatus began to come into its own. Two techniques were in wide use: The centrally located, two-solution chemical foam system and the portable dry powder foam system. Mechanical foam followed and was used with dramatic success by the Navy during World War II.
