The American-La France Engine company of Elmira, N. Y., has received the following contracts: Kansas City, Mo., for a Metropolitan steam fire engine.—Auburn, N. Y., for a Metropolitan steam fire engine. The order was placed after a very thorough investigation of all makes of steam fire engines, and the verdict was in favor of the Metropolitan.—Newark, N. J., has placed its order for two more of the companv’s modern, up-to-date combination chemical engines and hose wagons.—New York city has ordered four more Metropolitan fire engines.— Woodland, California has decided to place its contract for a Metropolitan steam fire engine with the Amcrican-La France Eire Engine company.
Mayor McClellan recommends a four-year bond issue of $0.000,ooo for the fire department of New York city.
