Test of Pumper for North Plainfield, N. J.
The chiefs of the fire departments of several of the cities and towns surrounding North Plainfield, N. J., witnessed an underwriters’ test at Watchung Pond in that city of a new Maxim 750-gallon triple combination car recently. In this test the apparatus developed higher pressures and delivered greater volume than the underwriters’ requirements. The pumper worked steadily during the entire test and the town officials as well as the visiting chiefs commented on the lack of vibration. Chief William T. McCullough, U. G. Tingley, chairman of the fire committee and several other officials, as well as D. A. Woodhouse, representing the manufacturers, co-operated with the engineers of the National Board in conducting the test.
