In the past, we have called attention to the need for testing, supervising and maintaining sprinkler system water supplies, both inside structures and below ground. However, as a prerequisite of satisfactory sprinkler system operation, it is fundamental that the available water be allowed to flow to fire protection systems through fully open control valves of the various types used in fire protection systems, such as post indicator and OS&Y valves.
