South Norwalk Fire Report
Chief Engineer George W. Bogardus, of the South Norwalk, Conn., fire department in his annual report for the year 1912 which has been received recently by FIRE AND WATER ENINEERING reports that the total number of alarms received during the year from all sources was 72 and the total fire loss was $50,497. Chief Bogardus recommends "that the City purchase a combination Automobile Chemical and Hose Wagon and a chassis for the Hook and Ladder Truck, thus doing away with five horses and their maintenance. Also, I would recommend that 1,000 feet of hose be purchased, as during the past year 500 feet has been lost. Also, I would recommend that the salary of the permanent men be increased, as I find by investigation, that they are the lowest paid of any department throughout the State.”
