SEWERAGE

Bids will be advertised for by the clerk of the city council, Montclair, N. J., for building a sewer in Portland place. The sanitary condition of the city is getting worse and worse, as the adjoining brook is catching all the sewage from the houses

Owing to recent improvements in the sewerage of Elizabeth, N. J., the death rate of the city, which in 1892 was 22,19. has been steadily reduced, and in last year was 17,16.
