SEWERAGE

SEWERAGE

A bill is to be presented in Congress relative to the Chicago Sanitary Canal. It provides for an investigation of the canal to see if it will cause disease along the line, and especially at St. Louis, which, while emptying its own sewage into the Mississippi for the benefit of all that live below it on the river, objects to having that of Chicago poured in above it.

The Centerville, N. J., Pipe Sewer Association of Bayonne, N. J., will oppose the construction of sewer extension through the Second and Fifth wards to the Kill von Kull river which is expected to cost about $50,000, on the ground that the improvement recently authorized by the mayor and council will conflict with the extensive system of the association, and prove an unnecessary burden upon many members who are taxpayers, and will be liable to assessment.
