Scholarship Fund Started
A scholarship fund to assist Connecticut fire fighters furthering their professional education has been established to honor the memory of Andrew J. Flanagan, state supervisor of firemen training, who died in 1972.
The Andrew J. Flanagan Memorial Fund is administered by the Meriden Foundation, a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable foundation. The committee that organized the fund included representatives of all the statewide fire service organizations in Connecticut. Because Flanagan was widely known first as a battalion chief in charge of training in the New Haven Fire Department and later as state supervisor of training, the committee feels that many of his friends throughout the country may wish to make tax-exempt contributions to the memorial fund.
