Relief Squad Formed in Baltimore Fire Department
Balt的首席Emrich 8月imore, Md., fire department, inaugurated a plan which is an innovation in the city fire service, a relief squad of twelve picked men. They will form a fire-fighting unit whose functions are so extended as to make the same a factor not only in rescue work but in accidents and other emergencies. This new squad will at the same time serve to relieve difficulties encountered by the department by its shortage of men. . Many members of the department have been drafted and a great number have resigned, attracted by bigger pay in munition factories and other concerns directly or indirectly engaged in war work. In the future, wherever a shortage makes itself felt in any emergency, this company will come to the rescue.
