Chief Wm. H. Avery of the Port Huron fire department reports 74 fire alarms during 1894 as against 66 in 1893. The amount of water pumped against fire pressure was 14,118,700 gallons. The city has 275 hydrants set, of which 159 are Holly; 66, Mathews; 38, Ludlow; 9, Galvin; and 8, Buffalo. Of these there have been set during the year 18 double plug 4-inch and 1 three plug 6-inch double valve, all of the Mathew’s patent.
