OBITUARY

John Feeley.

John Feeley, of Pittsfield, Mass., at one time chief of the fire department and water commissioner of that city, died on January 3, at his home, 103 Pomeroy Avenue. He was born in Brooklyn, N. Y., and was 89 years of age. Mr. Feeley joined the Fire Department in 1870, a position he filled for several years. In 1864 Mr. Feeley and William R. Plunkett were appointed water commissioners for the town of Pittsfield, and Mr. Feeley was active in planning and overseeing the construction of the early water works of the town. He was elected for eight terms, making his official connection with the water department cover a period of 27 years. During the year 1895-6 Mr. Feeley served in the common council, where he was appointed to committees on fire department and on accounts. He leaves a widow, four sons and five daughters.
