New York Cites Firemen For Service To City
Mayor Robert F. Wagner presented heroism medals to 22 firemen and cash awards and medals to three others at a ceremony held at City Hall Plaza on June 17; Fire Commissioner Edward F. Cavanagh, Jr. presided. The next of kin of eight firemen who lost their lives in the line of duty during 1957 also received awards.
The recipients included: Acting Battalion Chief J. P. Regan, $500 award; Fireman H. G. Cartwright, $250 and William H. Todd Memorial Medal; Fireman J. J. Browne, Jr., $250 and Thomas F. Dougherty Medal; Captain Thomas D. Ryan, Administration Medal;
