威廉•Comenski empl利文斯顿街88号的oye of the Commonwealth Roofing company, has been arrested in East Orange for turning on one of the fire hydrants without obtaining the proper permission. The complaint was made by Arthur A. Reimer, superintendent of the East Orange water department. Comenski was paroled after a deposit of $50 had been made as security for his appearance in court at a future date.—The State water supply commission has recently inspected the Raritan watershed, on meeting at Trenton last week. Plans from several small water companies which propose to increase their plants were received. In most cases the plans were not sufficiently specific and the companies will be asked for more details.—William Connors, chief engineer of the waterworks, of Gloucester City will not relinquish his position to the Democrats on New Year's Day without a fight, as he has consulted a lawyer and asserts that he still has two years to serve. There are six or seven candidates for his position.—At Dover the Lackawanna Railroad company is building a new pumping station west of the old car shops at the Salem street crossing on the Rockaway river. A large engine will be installed to pump water from the river through two 7-in. pipes to a standpipe in the rear of the Dover freight station and to a standpipe near the car shops. When the work is completed and the Morris street sewer is built, it is probable that the dam at Ford’s Pond, the company’s present source of supply, will be lowered and the pond done away with in part, if not entirely. At present the railroad company pumps water at both the car shops and Ford's Pond, and the new engine is expected to do the work of both of these pumping stations.
