On Monday, July 27, 2009, at approximately 1920 hours, the Hampton Township, Sussex County Fire Rescue (HTFR) was conducting a training drill on the campus of the Sussex County Community College. While participating in the drill, a New Jersey firefighter, Rebecca Crawford was injured when a sand cast aluminum large diameter hose appliance catastrophically failed.
Areportreleased by The New Jersey Division of Fire Safety identifies key issues and remedies that should be implemented within all New Jersey fire departments to prevent a reoccurrence of this type of incident.
