建设新的卡车Comp站any No. 13 of the San Francisco, Cal., fire department, of which George H. Thomas is captain, was started about October, 1914, and finished in July, 1915. The dedication exercises were presided over by Mayor James Rolph, Jr., several members of the Board of Supervisors, the Fire Commissioners, and the Chief of the department, Thomas R. Murphy; also a number of citizens and men interested in the welfare of this department. The house is a reinforced concrete and steel building terracotted with pressed white brick on the three street fronts. The building is Lshaped and is on the corner of Drumm and Commercial streets. It has five doors, three on Drumm street, one on Commercial street and one on Sacramento street. The truck, hose wagon and engine go out on Drumm street, the battalion chief on Sacramento street, and the squad wagon on Commercial street. The building, fully equipped and without the apparatus, cost $96,000 and is modern in every respect. It is equipped with a vacuum cleaning system that runs through the entire house and deposits all dust and dirt in a receptacle in the basement; also an electric air pump for pumping up tires and cleaning of engines with gasoline. Two dry rooms in the basement are equipped with radiator and electrical fans for drying clothes. There is also a very modern kitchen with a full set of dishes, pots, pans, and an up-to-date gas range. There is also a lavatory downstairs, white tile and marble. The main floor is clear of everything but the apparatus. The apparatus consists of chief’s car, Pope-Hartford, 4 cyl. 40 H. P., type 31 roadster; a six-wheeled Seagrave tractor-drawn truck, 6 cyl. 105 FI. P., type H; an American-La France hose wagon, 6 cyl. 90 H. P., type 12; Amcrican-La France front drive steamer, 6 cyl., 105 H. P., type 21; AmcricanLa France squad wagon, 6 cvl., 95 H. P., type 12. This house is the headquarters of Battalion Chief Walter A. Cook, District 10. Captain Chas. Gallitin, Engine 12, and Captain George Thomas, Truck 13. The squad will not be in service for a month. On the upper floor are the sleeping apartments. The chief has a well-appointed room on the Sacramento street side. He has a private bath, shower and washstand. The captains’ and lieutenants’ rooms are on the Drumm street side, and they also have a private lavatory. The truckmen and hosemcn are on the Commercial street side and in the center of the building and have a lavatory of their own. The third floor is equipped with locker rooms and the roof is equipped with hose racks for drying hose, a hydrant for washing hose and an electric hoist for raising and lowering hose. There is a library and reading room on the second floor. The building is 70 feet on Drumm street, 90 feet on Commercial street and 30 feet on Sacramento street.
