During the past week alone,this company has sold 2,000 feet to Newport, R. I, 500 feet to Central Falls, R. I.,and 500 feet to Milford, Conn., and delivered 2,000 feet to Providence, R. I. the city where this company is located. The Baker cellar pipes are fast being adopted by the leading departments in the country. The last cities to fall into line are Haverhill and Brockton, Mass. This method of handling fire streams beneath floors is a great improvement over any other method used heretofore, and the cities who try this pipe are fast findingout the truth of this statement for themselves. The Combination Ladder Company has received an order from the Howard and Bullough American Machine Company of Pawtucket, R. I ., to furnish it with two sixty-five-foot and two fortv-five-foot Oregon pine, fire extension ladders, equipped with the famous safety locks of this company’s patent and also the new ball-hearing hoist—one of the company’s latest patents.
The Boston Woven Ilose and Rubber Company has secured larger quarters in the handsome and spacious new block at the corner of Congress street and Atlantic avenue, Boston, and will take possession on lanuary r, 1898. The business of this old and reliable hose company is increasing so fast as to necessitate taking this step.

The following letter from Bristol fire company No. 1. of Bristol, Pa., just been received by Messrs. A. F. & S. C. Stewart, of Rochester, N.Y.: “Gantlimen:—The hose wagon has been received and very appropriately housed. The company is perfectly satisfied,without exception; it is an undivided opinion that it is a model of beauty, combined with a very serviceable appearance. We have given it a very severe test which has given us a very high opinion of its durability. We will take extreme pleasure in recommending it to whomever you may refer to us. W. A. Ixirimer, Moses Louder, Harry Lyndall, Fred. Nevegold, George S. Fenton.” The fire department of Okaloosa. Ia., has just been supplied with a handsome up-to-date hose wagon by the same firm at a cost of $505 (freight included). It carries, besides the hose, lanterns, ladders, and nozzles, an extinguisher, crowbar, hook and ax, and weighs 1,900 pounds. Chief Dutton and his men are more than satisfied with it. A.F. & S. C. Stewart have also closed a contract with the South Sidehose company of Greensboro, N.C., to build them one of their latest syle hose wagons for tournament purposes and duty.
