METERAGE
Osaka, Japan, has placed an order for 9,000 meters with a Belgian manufacturer. The installation of meters is becoming quite common in the larger cities of Japan, and there seems to be no reason why meters of American manufacture should not find their way there. The manufacturers of this country should stir up the American Consulate in Japan to push matters in their favor.
During the past year there were set in the Middleboro, Mass., fire district 30 meters—a total of 499, as follows: Hersey (disk, 45), 341; Thomson, 103; Nash, 100; Crown, 77; Trident, 42; King, 19; other makes, 17. Of the total consumption for the year—122,740,000 gal.—there passed through meters 49,075,581 gal.; percentage of services metered, 52.2; receipts from metered water, 73.5.
