Meetings Texas Water Works Association
The next convention of the Texas Water Works Association, according to E. G. Eggert, treasurer of the association, is to be held the last day of the short course of instruction for municipal water works attendants and filter plant operators, which is to take place at Dallas, Texas, during the week beginning January 15 and ending January 20, 1923. Another meeting is scheduled to be held in connection with the annual meeting of the Southwest Water Works Association during the week of June 15, 1923. The principal function of the Texas association, according to Mr. Eggert, is that of promoting short schools of instruction from time to time and, of course, bringing the members together for mutual acquaintance and benefit.
According to a statement by Water Commissioner Paul Wilson of Jackson, Tenn., the Jackson water works plant, established with much opposition in 1881, has grown to be worth one million and a quarter dollars, and the annual earnings of the plant over and above all expenses are about $8,500. This sum is spent in improvements each year. There arenow 56 miles of water mains in this city. Of the original committee which built the plant for the city only one is now living—John L. Wisdom, a local banker.
