MASSACHUSETTS STATE FIREMEN'S ASSOCIATION AT NORTH ADAMS.

THE twenty-first annual convention of the Massachusetts State Firemen’s associaation was held last week in Odd Fellows’ hall, North Adams. Nearly 500 delegates were in attendance. The first session was devoted to routine business and listening and replying to opening addresses. That of Mayor Wilkinson, welcoming the convention to the city was read by City Solicitor Ashe—the mayor being too ill to be present. Chief Byars, of the of the local fire department, welcomed the firemen to the city. President Langford, of Newburyport, after suitable replies had been made, then read his address, which was chiefly congratulatory.
