LOUISIANA STATE FIREMEN’S ASSOCIATION.
The firemen of Louisana have organised themselves into a State association, to which all firemen of Louisana, whether paid or volunteer, are eligible as members. One great object of the new organisation is the formation of a firemen’s relief fund. The officers elected are as follows: President, William J. White; vicepresident, R. B. Hock; secretary, William J. Kleinpeter: treasurer, William Muntz—all of Gretna, La.; statistician. James If Heank, New Orleans. The association’s first convention and tournament will be laid at Gretna in October.
Heating turpentine and wax on a gas stove caused a slight fire at 108 Woodycrest avenue, The Bronx, New York, and gave the firemen of j8 enginehouse a chance to show how quickly they could answer an alarm. They made a run of nearly half a mile in record time.
