LACFD Copter Pilot Honored For Brush Fire Rescue Flights
Roland Barton, helicopter pilot and air officer of the Los Angeles County Fire Department, has been honored as Fairchild Pilot of the Year for heroic flying during a November brush fire in the San Gabriel Mountains, adjacent to the San Fernando Valley.
The award was presented to Barton by James Dresher, senior vice president of the Fairchild Hiller Corporation, during the Helicopter Association of America’s 19th annual meeting in Palm Springs, Calif., in January.
