The number of serious cases requir ing medical treatment was 23.373; the number of fatalities 1.153. In Pennsylvania the number of persons seriously injured by fireworks in the five years was 3,458; the number killed. 172. Last year there were 987 persons injured in Pennsyl vania in the Independence Day celebration, and 21 were killed.
