It is stated that “the fire moved hack and forth in every direction across clear spaces that underwriters have heretofore regarded as entirely safe." The wind was not high, it is said, and it would be difficult, if not impossible to cite a similar case where a fire in a small town with low buildings has played such antics, which nobody can explain.
