Huntsville Makes a Fifteen-Year Contract.

The Huntsville council and the Dallas Manufacturing company have come to an agreement as to the water-supply contract, whereby the city receives from the company $2,500 in payment of all claims up to January 1. 1908, From that time for fifteen years the city is to furnish the company with water for its plant, houses and fire protection to an expert not exceeding 500,000 gals, a day at one and three-quarter cents per 1,000 gals. This rate is to apply to all water so furnished, unless the daily average cons tun n for any quarter falls below 250,000 gals In that event the regular rates are to he paid. Payments are to be made quarterly. Should 1 breakdown occur, the city is not to be liable for failure to supply water during its continuance. The company may tap the main below the regular meter so as to have an uninterrupted flow for lire protection, but a bypass or detective meter must be put on a side pipe. The company is to dismiss its injunction suit against the citv. paying all costs. This arrangement will save the city in fifteen years $41,000 more than was allowed under the old contract.
