It was adopted by the volunteer fire department of Hamilton, Md., and might aptly be termed “home-made” inasmuch as it was designed and built by Joseph Luhrman, of that place, who is also head of the department The engine of the truck is 20 horsepower and with full equipment and six men, has made 20 miles an hour on the level. In numerous instances it has reached fire scenes far in advance of the horse-drawn vehicles of the regular department of the county. A feature of this machine is the pump, which, by the shifting of a lever, is operated by the engine that furnishes the motive power for the truck.
